PHILADELPHIA - GlaxoSmithKline and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) announce the return of GlaxoSmithKline's Science in the Summer program to area libraries. This free program, now entering its 22nd year, is dedicated to introducing the world of science to students entering 2nd through 6th grades. Offered at local libraries throughout Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, GlaxoSmithKline's Science in the Summer program embraces the idea that science is for everyone and introduces scientific concepts through fun, hands-on activities to all students, including those who may not otherwise have access to a regular science class during the school year. Taught by certified teachers, this fun science experience is comprised of four 45-60-minute classes given over the course of a week. Classes vary by county and include Chemistry, Simple Machines, Genetics, Bioscience, Oceanography and Physical Science/Electricity. Registration for the program is limited and begins in April, with classes occurring in June and July. Please visit www.scienceinthesummer.com or your local library for course descriptions and specific registration and class dates.
GlaxoSmithKline's Science in the Summer is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline and administered by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Since its inception, the program has introduced over 92,000 Delaware Valley children to science.
